MEET MAMA EKUNDAYO.
The Kogi Woman Who Raised Over 500 Orphans And Abandoned Children.
Known as the “Mother Theresa of Africa”, Mama Ekundayo dedicated her life to caring for orphans and abandoned children. By 2008, she had cared for over 500 children.
Her selfless act earned her the nickname “Olomo yeye” (someone with many children). Her name “Ekundayo” means “tears have turned to joy” in Yoruba language – a fitting description of her life’s work.
Mama Ekundayo gave birth to 5 children of her own, but her love for children knew no bounds. She ran the Ekundayo Orphanage Home in Kogi state for over 50 years.
One of her notable “kids” is popular Nigerian Singer and Photographer TY Bello.
Let’s celebrate this incredible woman who has brought joy and hope to countless lives.
