A fresh controversy has erupted online after Nigerian comedienne and actress, Princess, publicly accused veteran Nollywood icon Iya Rainbow of orchestrating the release of convicted actor Baba Ijesha from prison and allegedly taking him to the Ooni of Ife’s palace.
In a now-viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Princess did not hold back, calling out Iya Rainbow for what she described as a betrayal of justice. According to her, the respected actress played a key role in Baba Ijesha’s release and even facilitated a meeting between him and the Ooni of Ife—Nigeria’s foremost traditional monarch.
“She’s the one behind his release… She took him into the palace to see the Ooni,” Princess alleged angrily, expressing deep
disappointment and rage over what she called “a disgraceful endorsement of a convicted abuser.”
Baba Ijesha, a Nollywood actor, was convicted in 2022 for sexually assaulting a minor—an underage girl under Princess’s care. The case made national headlines and sparked outrage, especially within the entertainment community. Princess, who was at the center of the case, had been vocal about the traumatic toll it took and the need for justice to be served.
The recent video of Baba Ijesha, allegedly walking freely and paying homage to the Ooni, sent shockwaves through social media, prompting questions about whether justice had truly been served—or quietly undermined.
Princess’s fiery remarks have stirred public outrage, with many Nigerians demanding answers. Social media has been flooded with reactions, as netizens debate the involvement of influential figures in cases that should have remained in the hands of the judiciary.
As of now, Iya Rainbow has not publicly responded to the allegations. The Ooni’s palace has also remained silent on the reported visit. But the backlash is growing, and calls for transparency are intensifying.
The unfolding drama is yet another flashpoint in the ongoing national conversation about celebrity privilege, the justice system, and the power wielded by traditional institutions in high-profile matters.
