Ibrahim Chatta was born on October 14, 1970, in Bachata, Edu Local Government Area in Kwara State, Nigeria. He is of Tapa origin (Nupe ethnic group), although his mother is from Modakeke, Osun State. After earning her first graduate certificate at Saint Bridges Catholic Primary School, Bachata, Chatta enrolled in public secondary school, still in Bachata for high school.
However, he moved to Aggiea, Niger state (another Tapa environment) due to his repeated unruly behavior, then enrolled at Dende High School, Aggiea, before dropping out for good.
Career
Ibrahim Chatta discovered his passion for plays from an early age and often attended these shows when a theater company was in town. Growing up, he had the privilege of seeing Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), Duro Ladipo and Ray Eyiwunmi (Baba Ray) perform. Watching them inspired him and he decided to go the theater route. He began his professional acting career in 1985 when he teamed up with Joseph Laoye (Uncle Joe), a Baba Ray product.
One characteristic that contributed to his growth in the entertainment industry centres on his fluency and use of the Yoruba language, despite being of Tada origin. In addition to acting, Ibrahim is also a talented singer-songwriter. He performed over 100 soundtracks, many commercial jingles in the Yoruba language. Some of her notable songs include “Friday Night”, “My Money”, “Boom Boom Boom” and “Area”.
